A candlestick is a chart element that displays the open, high, low, and close prices of an asset over a specific time period. The body of the candle shows the range between open and close, while the wicks (shadows) show the high and low. Green or white candles indicate a price increase; red or black indicate a decrease.

Example in context

A investor notices a bullish engulfing candlestick pattern on the EUR/USD daily chart and uses it as a signal to enter a long position.
